Identify the courses you plan registering for
- Maintain full time status, 9 credits minimum until completed the course requirements
- Fill out full-time certification request if taking fewer than 9 credits; see http://myhub.njit.edu/ftc/
- Make sure to take all the core courses required as soon as possible
Consider whether to pursue independent study and/or thesis option; explore research opportunities at the department: http://cme.njit.edu/research/ure.php
- Meet PhD students pursuing different topics
- Meet MS students involved in research projects
- Meet faculty members whose research interests you
Get your academic advisor hold removed by providing required information to your academic advisor

Register for all courses as soon as your hold is removed
Request permit to open a closed course section (i.e., an independent study, thesis, etc.) from the course instructor and Ms. Cynthia Wos, cynthia.m.wos@njit.edu
Bring all forms needing signatures and required for travel, full time certification, thesis committee appointment, etc., to Ms. Roselyn Manning at the department office or e-mail her at manning@njit.edu
See your academic advisor with any questions you might have
As semester progresses, find the time to do the following:
Attend AIChE student section meetings: learn about different industries and careers
Schedule a meeting with Mr. Bob Vietrogoski, Research and Instruction Librarian; 973-642-4950 robert.vietrogoski@njit.edu to become acquainted with the library databases and resources
Visit Career Development Services https://www.njit.edu/cds/ to learn about resources: preparing resume, mock interviews, postings of internships/coops, and jobs.

Learn about resources available, including the recreation and the tennis centers in the Wellness and Events Center, http://www.njit.edu/life/recreation-fitness
